At the farm we feel the seasonal change so deeply - the earlier sunsets, the cooler mornings, and the plants sending their seeds into the world in hopes of a future. This summer season we have also felt the lack of rain - it is constantly nagging at the back of our minds and requires us to constantly be irrigating, setting timers trying not to forget which block was irrigated last and which one needs it next. The shoulder seasons are sometimes the most incredible and the most difficult - you are straddling two worlds weather wise but you know that a big transition is coming. I’m ready for a deeper routine with back to school but I know that I will feel sorrow for the freedom of summer schedules, not rushing to activities, and those late nights in the garden where time feels like it stands still and you can just hear the bees and birds grabbing their last feast before the darkness. Here at the farm we have an incredible line up of events to keep your hands, hearts, and bellies connected to the seasons. We are so excited to have our very first Farm to Table Dinner in collaboration with Sunday Supper and Joppa Fine Foods featuring our pasture raised meats and certified organic produce. This evening is sure to be a beautiful night that is both delicious and grounded in community and we hope you can join us!
